Welcome to Food for Rock my Website Blog & YouTube Show

My interest in cooking started when I was a kid and I would come home from school and have to cook something to eat as my mom didn’t get home until late in the evening. This would have been back in the early 80’s and I would proudly make Pizza with white bread in a toaster oven. Now this was a very special pizza because it came out of a can as a paste which you would spread on the bread. This magical pizza product was made by Libby’s and it was quick and easy to make. Step one was open the can. Step two was spreading the pizza mixture on a slice of white bread. Step three was placing said concoction in the toaster oven for just a few minutes and presto!
You had pizza!
Now the spread looked disgusting but the taste was fantastic! Over the next few years, I would spend time in the kitchen with my mother and watched how she prepared meals. Money was always tight back then, so mum would combine unlikely foods together so food never went to waste, like stuffing meatballs into mashed potatoes, breading it and then baking the whole thing together. This chaos and spontaneity caused me to become a bit of a rebel when making my own food. I have no formal training in the culinary arts, and I would definitely not call myself a chef but I do like preparing meals and I’m not afraid to try anything and everything in different combinations. Sometimes it works and sometimes I fail horribly…
But the creative journey is never a wasted moment.
So… My plan is to present a variety of my personal recipes for you to enjoy on this website and on YouTube, that are inspired by a bands or pieces of music that I have listened to during my lifetime.
Why am I combining music with food? Because I was fascinated by an article I read which stated that listening to music while eating can heighten the taste of the food.
Is this a scientific fact?
Well, I’m not sure, but here on Food For Rock, I hope you will find my recipes easy, practical and delicious and more importantly, that the food compliments the tunes that inspired me to create them in the first place.
So please join me each episode and see what I come up with and hey, if you are inclined to try mixing music and food to create your own recipes, please drop me a line and tell me what you did, why you did it and most importantly, how you did it.
Keep Hungry,
